Advocating for New York State Providers
The Providers for Equitable and Transparent Reimbursement (PETR) aims to bring together stakeholders to champion bills that promote transparent communication between insurance companies and providers, as well as reasonable and equitable reimbursement policies.

Inspiration for the coalition began with the Senate Bill S5209A which aimed to reduce the look back period insurances have to correct claims and request overpayment adjustments from 2 years to 3 months. Having a long look back period allows insurance companies to audit your practice and if they find something they don't like (usually a minor charting note issue), claw back all payments for that 2 year period. This has put multiple providers in over $100,000 in debt to insurance companies. This bill was championed by chiropractors in New York. Bills like this benefit all providers. This coalition exists to bring organizations and providers together to champion bills like S5209A that give providers more control and predictability when it comes to working with health insurance companies. We would love to have you join us.
